About the Event
Originally formed in 2011, Soma Soma reformed in 2017 after a period of 4 year hiatus and have been solidifying their name in the UK's world music scene with grace and energy filled shows.
This Bristol Anglo-Brazilian 8-piece outfit have successfully blended African and Latin influences to create what can only be defined as their own SOMA SOMA sound - where Brazilian percussion underpins Afrobeat bass lines and driving beats support a vintage horn section that merge together to form a hearty dose of world music fusion. Jorge Ben meets Pat Thomas sort of thing, with some interesting and perplexing songwriting to ensure the listener is taken on a thought-provoking, mesmerising and colourful journey.
SOMA SOMA are a constant presence in the UK festival circuit and are continually selling out shows in support of their 2nd album ‘Agua Viva’, with the band now gearing up to release new material in 2023.
